Renovation, Remediation and Development

Celebrating Matariki encourages us to pause and take stock, reflect on the past year and look to the future.

There’s no denying that this is a turbulent time for the construction industry in New Zealand and around the world. As always, it’s how those in the industry adapt to these challenges and changes that will define the built environment of the future.

At Arch Group, the three arms of the business are sharpening their specialties to move with the trends, and positively contribute to the future of our cities.

Navigating Nationwide Plasterboard Shortages

The construction industry has faced some unprecedented challenges over the last few years as the pandemic has wrought havoc on supply chains, material availability and the workforce. The latest casualty is plasterboard.

With such an essential material in such short supply, we’re thinking about the best ways to design with what we have available.

Designing During The Pandemic - A Challenge We're Embracing

As 2021 winds down, it’s just the beginning for challenges facing the construction industry, after an embattled few years struggling through the pandemic.

It’s how we respond that will determine what happens next. While it’s understandable in unprecedented times like these to think day by day, there’s a significant need to rise to the challenge and plan for the future, or risk being left behind.

Building Remediation - With Challenge Comes Opportunity

If there’s anything we’ve learnt over the years, it’s that with challenge, comes opportunity. Resolution Arch took on building remediation as its core challenge and over the years, it’s become clear that with that challenge comes huge opportunity to add value, create clever solutions and to genuinely make a positive impact on the lives of the people we work with.

At the end of the whirlwind of change that is 2021, we’re looking back at the last 13 years of business. We’re reflecting on our projects, the impact we’ve had and what’s next for the future of building remediation.

COVID19 And The Construction Industry

As the world struggles under the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic, the construction industry has been hit particularly hard, and in New Zealand, the past 18 months have led to product and staff shortages, as well as significant inflation in material and wage costs.

At Arch Group, we keep a close eye on the changes within the industry and are seeing an increasing need for adaptability in our processes as the pandemic alters the way we work.

Surviving And Thriving In Another Lockdown

As New Zealanders find themselves thrust into the uncertainty of another lockdown, and the new dangers of the Delta variant, it’s more important than ever to have the tools to look after our mental health and wellbeing.

At Arch Group, we think it’s important to focus on wellbeing while we all work from home, so we come out of lockdown a strong, connected and healthy team.

Castor Bay Residence

Here are some images from the early design stages of a home in Castor Bay, North Shore, completed by our sister company Infusion Arch.

This project involves alterations to an extensive home on a clifftop site. An older wing of the home will be replaced with one which uses shuttered concrete and metal cladding. Large windows with shutters take advantage of ocean views while retaining the option to enclose the internal spaces.

The new addition will contrast to the existing plaster home, and retain the dramatic bridge which connects both wings of the house.

Proposed West Harbour Development

We'd like to share a few images of the early stages of this residential development design!

From our sister company Infusion Arch, these ten homes in West Harbour are staggered down a long sloping site. The proposed layouts take full advantage of the site to yield spacious family homes in a medium density zone.
