This original complex was badly affected by the leaky building crisis. Upon receiving reclad prices as well as analysis that there was a clear need for structural upgrades, a decision was made to rebuild new.
Located in Parnell, the brief was to create a development that takes advantage of the majestic mature oak trees and views of the historical landmarks – the Holy Trinity Cathedral and the Auckland Museum, while allowing the units to be light and airy. A contemporary French Provincial theme was incorporated.
Changes to Auckland’s Unitary Plan and the extent of water damage to the timber framing provided a unique opportunity to redesign these units to maximise their potential.
By enlarging bedrooms in the upper levels and converting an internal deck system, significant value was added to each property, creating a community of contemporary homes filled with natural light and ventilation and connection to the surrounding nature.
